Zara Tindall’s hilarious six-word comment when dropping her kids off at Princess Anne’s

Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, is not only known for her steadfast dedication to public service and her strong work ethic but also for the close and nurturing relationships she maintains with her grandchildren.

As a mother of two and grandmother of five, Princess Anne has found immense joy in her role as a grandmother, a role that allows her to connect deeply with the younger generation of the Royal Family.

It seems Zara Tindall and her brother, Peter Phillips, enjoy dropping their children to Anne’s 700-acre Gloucestershire estate when they can.

In an ITV documentary aired in 2020, titled ‘Anne: The Princess Royal at 70’, Zara Tindall used a hilarious six-worded phrase to describe what happens when she drops her children off, she said: “We quite like leaving them on Sundays. We’ll say, ‘We’ll pick them up later, bye.'”

Also speaking about his mother as a grandmother, Peter explained: “She loves seeing them ride, she loves having them round for Sunday lunches and taking them for walks. Doing all the things that we would do as kids.”

Peter and Zara both reside on Anne’s Gloucestershire estate, Gatcombe Park, so they’re close by for family catch-ups.

Despite being the late Queen’s eldest grandchildren, Princess Anne and and their father Captain Mark Phillips decided not to give Peter and Zara royal titles when they were born.

Peter said in the documentary: “We were always brought up on the understanding that we were going to have to go to work. We were going to have to go out and earn our living. Regardless of the fact of who our grandmother was or who our mother was.”

Zara added: “I think it made us fight harder as well, to try and be as successful as we could be. So we’re very grateful to her not giving us a title anyway.”
