Tommy Fleetwood’s incredible caddie gesture summed up the golfer he is
Tommy Fleetwood once demonstrated his character by making time in his hectic diary to caddie for his stepson. The Southport star is enjoying the spotlight after finally triumphing on the PGA Tour for the first time, securing one of golf’s most prestigious trophies beyond the majors.
Following numerous close calls, Fleetwood kept his composure to claim the Tour Championship alongside the FedEx Cup, netting him a £7.4million windfall. The 34-year-old was already a popular figure, with supporters cheering him on at East Lake and sports stars, including LeBron James and Caitlin Clark, among those offering praise on social media.
Fleetwood, who has triumphed seven times on the Europe-based DP World Tour, credits much of his achievements to his support system, which features his wife and manager Clare, who is 23 years his senior. Fleetwood also enjoys a close relationship with Clare’s son from her previous marriage, Oscar Craig, who had his stepfather carry his clubs for the UAE Challenge in Abu Dhabi in April last year.
