Rafael Nadal’s announcement that he will retire from tennis last week has left the 22-time Grand Slam winner with a void to fill.

The Spaniard, 38, will step away after playing for Spain in the Davis Cup in November, bringing the curtain down on his 23 years as a professional. It leaves the Manacor native with plenty of options of how to proceed – from coaching to punditry.

His decision comes at the same time as one of his long-time rivals, Nick Kyrgios, said he would make his comeback in 2025, laying out his ambition to win a Grand Slam. But the Australian has a long way back after spending 18 months out through injury.
