Serena Williams issues major life update about her health

Serena Williams recently shared a health update revealing that she underwent surgery to remove a branchial cyst in her neck. Discovered in May, the benign cyst grew to the size of a small grapefruit. Initially advised by doctors that removal was optional, the cyst’s growth led Williams to undergo further testing, after which doctors recommended its removal due to risks of infection or leakage.
Williams posted on TikTok from her hospital bed, expressing relief and gratitude that everything went smoothly and that she’s now on the road to recovery. Although she missed significant events, such as Glamour’s Women of the Year awards and Rafael Nadal’s retirement announcement, Williams emphasized that “health always comes first” as she continues to recover with support from her family and fans
