Novak Djokovic beat Carlos Alcaraz in four set to book his place in the Australian Open semi-finals. The Serb is now just two wins away from a record-breaking 25 Grand Slam titles.

With Andy Murray in his coaching box, Djokovic proved their is still life in the old dog. The 37-year-old left the court for treatment late in the first set and there were fears that he would not be able to continue.

But he chanelled all of his experience to push through and set up a tie with Alexander Zverev on Friday.

Djokovic admits using injury to his advantage
Novak Djokovic has explained that he tried to use his early injury to gain a psychological advantage over Carlos Alcaraz.

“I try to use that to my advantage, in a sense, to take the initiative of the rallies and his hesitation,” said the Serb.

“He was trying to play at some point quite a few dropshots and make me run.

“I’ve been in the situations, as well, where opponent’s struggling with injury, but keep going. The opponent is going for everything and then he’s staying in the match.

“Then all of a sudden as the match progresses, the opponent feels bette. You’re starting to panic a bit with your game. I understand the feeling.

“Yeah, as I said on the court, I tried to understand how I feel. I didn’t feel great the second set, but I went for my shots. I was really close to the line and just had to be more aggressive.”
