‘If I Was Your Wife…’: Amanda Balionis Makes Honest Confession After Jordan Spieth’s Scary Shot

Who thought missing the fairway could be a life-or-death situation? There have been many instances in golf where, due to wind, wrong trajectory, and precision, golfers have missed the fairways. But just missing the fairways isn’t an issue, continuing from there is. Take the example of the recent incident at AT&T Pebble Beach 2025, Scottie Scheffler missed the fairway and landed on the beach. Despite that penalty zone, the world no.1 went on to take the shot and made it to the fairway back again.
However, his shot was not that risky as compared to what Jordan Spieth experienced at AT&T Pebble Beach’s eighth hole in 2022. The golfer encountered a horrifying shot where, a wrong step, could end up in a scary situation. Talking about the same, even famous golf journalist Amanda Balionis spoke up about that incident.
Going back in time and reviving that memory, Skratch has shared the interview of Spieth with Amanda Balionis where they talked about the follow-up shot after hitting a 256-yard drive and landing on the edge of the 68-foot-high cliff. Balionis asked, “I said if I was your wife, Annie, I would be ready to murder you if you didn’t already fall off that cliff. Was it as terrifying when you were on the ground as it looked when we had the blimp shot looking overhead because it looked like it was an extreme sport!”
