In May 2017, John Daly ended a 13-year title drought by securing his first PGA Tour Champions victory at the Insperity Invitational in Texas. Despite a challenging finish, where he bogeyed the final three holes, Daly managed to clinch the title by one stroke over Tommy Armour III and Kenny Perry. Reflecting on his performance, Daly remarked, “It wasn’t pretty at the end, but I got it done. That’s all that matters.”
Daly’s last professional win prior to this was in 2004 at the Buick Invitational. Known for his vibrant personality and distinctive style, Daly celebrated his long-awaited victory in signature fashion, donning red, white, and blue American flag pants and being doused in champagne on the 18th green.
