Donald Trump’s annoyance with golf ‘to intensify’ as US President bangs head against wall

Donald Trump’s frustration with golf snubbing his courses as the host of major tournaments could intensify if his growing relationship with Tiger Woods does not open new doors. The US President is a huge fan of the sport and while his courses have hosted LIV Golf events, they have never hosted a major
In 2021, and in response to Trump’s alleged role in the Capitol Hill riots, the PGA Tour stripped the Trump Bedminster course of the right to host the 2022 PGA Championship. There has also been a refusal to take the Open back to Turnberry since Trump purchased the course in 2014. Both decisions infuriated Trump, whose influence on golf could soar if he successfully mediates a deal to end the civil war between the PGA and the Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour.
Trump has also grown close with golf icon Woods over the past few months. The 78-year-old recently welcomed the 15-time major champion on stage at a White House reception by chanting “Tiger, Tiger, Tiger”. “Let me ask you – is there anybody like our Tiger?” Trump asked the audience. “He’s the greatest.”
Woods has entered Trump’s inner circle by revealing that he is in a relationship with Vanessa Trump, the former wife of Donald Trump Jr. The 49-year-old also refused to answer questions about Trump’s work on race relations, which delighted the President.
