Tiger Woods’s Niece Uses Her Platform to Support Black Family Struggling to Run Famed Ohio Golf Course

Some golf courses around the world just hold a special place in the hearts of the fans. Augusta National has the reputation of hosting some memorable triumphs in golf. From Rory McIlroy‘s Grand Slam in 2025, Tiger Woods‘s 12-stroke win in 1997, Jack Nicklaus‘s last Green Jacket in 1986, to many more. The Old Course at St. Andrews is one such venue that always grabs everyone’s imagination. The ‘Home of Golf’ has hosted the Open Championship 30 times in history. The TPC Sawgrass always has some outstanding strokeplay for the annual THE PLAYERS Championship.

One such course came to light in a recent story shared by Cheyenne Woods. For anyone who doesn’t know, she is the niece of Tiger Woods and a former LPGA Tour star. A reel by Shasta Averyhardt caught her attention a while ago, where she interviewed Renee Powell. Powell and her family built and currently manage Clearview Golf Course in Ohio. Renee talked about how her course will turn 80 and how it has never had a modern irrigation system. They still drag along the hoses and make sure the fairway and greens are well-maintained. While the Clearview Park Golf Course might not have hosted big PGA Tour events, it is still a cherished venue run by a local family across multiple generations.

Powell says they are looking to equip this old course with better equipment and have started the Irrigation Project Fund. She explained how six weeks of drought in 2024 saw them struggling to maintain the green and provide an adequate course for their loyal players. They wish to change that this year and install the right equipment to keep it running. Inspired by the story and the efforts of the family, Cheyenne Woods shared the reel in her stories with the caption, “The ONLY golf course built, designed and ran by a black family. Needs our support!!” The G.O.A.T.’s niece is trying to use her fame and influence to help Renee Powell and her family reach a larger audience and get the maximum support.
