Jordan Spieth swapped his $2.8M home for $7.1M mansion and buyer had strange request
Jordan Spieth once traded his $2.8 million home for a $7.1M mansion before receiving a bizarre request from the buyer.
The golfer, 31, claimed the first of his three major victories at the Masters in 2015. He would go on to sell his five-bedroom $2.8M Dallas mansion, covering 7,000sqft, in 2016.
He upgraded to an even more lavish property in the gated Dallas neighborhood of Preston Hollow, thanks to his successes at Augusta National and the U.S. Open the previous year.
However, the Texan made the mistake of leaving behind some valuables in a safe in his old house. And after asking for his things back, Spieth alleges he was essentially extorted by its new inhabitant.
The situation turned weird as the property owner allegedly offered to return the safe and its contents on the condition that he received Masters tickets. To put the request into perspective, weekly Masters badges are difficult to attain, even for a Green Jacket recipient like Spieth.
He recalled the story on the eve of the 2023 Masters after Adam Schupak of Golfweek asked several golfers what the strangest request they had ever received regarding the tournament was.
