Scottie Scheffler Makes Strong Jordan Spieth Admission Before PGA Championship

Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth are two of the biggest names set to participate in the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow this coming week.

Scheffler, the World No. 1 golfer, is fresh off his 14th career PGA Tour victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Spieth, a three-time major champion, is going after the coveted career grand slam.

Spieth has wins at the Masters (2015), U.S. Open (2015) and The Open Championship (2017). Now approaching a decade later, the 31-year-old golfer is still on the hunt for a PGA Championship win.

Spieth finished the CJ Cup Byron Nelson with a 9-under 62 on Sunday, tying his lowest 18-hole score on the PGA Tour. He finished in solo fourth place, trailing Scheffler by 12 strokes.

Scheffler was recently asked about Spieth’s chances to complete the career grand slam at this year’s PGA Championship.

“Odds would say he’s good enough to do it,” Scheffler said, via the Highlands News-Sun.

Spieth and Scheffler obviously hold a great deal of mutual respect.

“What he’s doing is very inspiring, what he’s been doing is inspiring given it wasn’t that long ago I was definitely better than him, and now I’m definitely not right now and I hate admitting that about anybody,” Spieth said. “… I’ve got more of a gauge on where exactly I need to be when I’m getting to play a lot of golf with him… If I’m not going to win, I like when he wins.”
