Tiger Woods and son Charlie’s interaction overheard – ‘I don’t want to hear it’
Tiger Woods’ son Charlie urged his legendary father to lay off the criticism after he sunk a long putt during the 47th Junior North & South Amateur at Pinehurst Resort.
Charlie is desperately trying to make a name for himself in golf, which is a tall order given that his father is one of the game’s greatest players. Despite fitness issues, Tiger is a 15-time major champion and a PGA Tour advocate who still serves as the face of golf six years after his last major win.
Charlie, who also qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in Dallas, is contested the 47th Junior North & South Amateur at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. The teenager hoped for success given his recent form; he recently won the Team TaylorMade Invitational, his first AJGA title.
Charlie was unable to replicate his recent triumph. He held his own but finished just outside the top 10 with a final round 1-under 71, having shot 72 on both Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 8 in the first two rounds.
Davis Wotnosky took home the title at 10-under par, but Charlie enjoyed a memorable moment with his father that went viral.
During his final round, the 16-year-old drained a long putt to tally his fourth birdie in five holes. Immediately after the ball dropped into the hole, Charlie turned to Tiger and, expecting some of his father’s famous criticism despite his fine play, joked: “I don’t want to hear it.”
