Kate Middleton has one rule she always follows when it comes to her children – and she learned it from Princess Diana.
The Princess of Wales is seen to be a very hands-on mother when it comes to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, always striving to make sure they are on their best behaviour when appearing in public. She is said to have adopted an approach very similar to Diana and her own mother Carole Middleton when it comes to her parenting style. Kate’s number one rule is being all about kindness according to one royal expert. They said: “Based on observations of photographs of Princess Diana at the time, and the current Princess of Wales, they are both very affectionate with their children.”
Kate is often seen holding her children’s hands or picking them up for cuddles when they were smaller. There are often lots of comforting gestures, such as a pat on the back or stroking their hair. When interacting with other children on her public engagements, Kate often crouches down to their level to engage with them – something that Diana would often do.”
Kate has been described as being just like any “normal mum” when at home with the children in Windsor’s Adelaide Cottage. A friend of the Royal previously described how she is “very chilled at home” but will scold the children when it is needed. They told PEOPLE how the cottage is “a normal, busy family home with kids running around and knocking things over,” adding that “there’s no airs and graces.” The friend also admitted that Kate “is doing that to help her children be more grounded and keep their reality in check,” as “that’s what really matters to her.”
