Princess Kate’s subtle message to the public in Olympic video decoded by expert

Princess Kate sent a symbolic “message of reassurance” to royal fans and the public in her latest video with her choice in fashion, claims a style expert.

In a heartfelt message to the British public, Kate and William both congratulated the GB Olympians who had returned from Paris to compete in the Olympic Games 2024.

A video compilation of celebrities including Snoop Dogg, as well as famous broadcasters and ex-athletes joined the royal duo as they expressed their gratitude for the successes of the competitors at the major sporting event.

Style expert Danielle Rogers-Clark of Give Good Dress exclusively spoke to Express.co.uk about the meaning behind the “timeless” Ralph Lauren ‘Tori’ striped long-sleeve t-shirt worn by Princess Kate in the video.

She said: “When seeing Kate in a familiar approachable style, it sends a message of reassurance to the public that the Princess is doing well and recovering from her cancer battle.”

The expert explained fashion fans would note Kate had previously worn the top before. She said: “The Breton stripe has long been seen as the epitome of an effortlessly chic daytime look. Kate often wears a striped top, as a symbol of familiarity, and normality. It is a relaxed, accessible, and relatable style.”

Kate previously chose to wear a striped top during her emotional video where she informed the public of her cancer diagnosis and that she was undergoing a course of preventative treatment.

Danielle said: “In her emotional cancer video back in March, the Princess Of Wales wore a Breton stripe jumper by Erdem, she clearly feels comfortable in this now signature casual outfit.”

The fashion expert also notes there is a “direct nod” with Kate wearing the Breton stripes as a tribute to the Olympic Games being held in Paris.

She explains: “Breton stripes were introduced in 1858 as the uniform of the French navy. Iconic French fashion designer Coco Chanel famously reworked the classic navy Breton shirt in the late 1900’s which she then wore on Summer holidays on the French coast.”
